Passing of the Peace

The Peace of Christ be with you

Call to Worship

One: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because God

has anointed me.

Many: The Lord has sent me to announce good news to the poor.

One: To proclaim release for prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind.

Many: To let the broken victims go free.

One: To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Many: Today, in our hearing these words have come true.

One: Let us praise the Lord who has called us out of darkness into God’s marvelous light and who has given us a share in the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Many: The Lord’s name be praised!

*Hymn:  #481  “Praise the Lord, God’s Glories Show”

 Unison Prayer of Confession

Spirit of God, you come to us as a powerful wind, but

we have shut the door and bolted it, to try to keep you out. You give us gifts beyond our ability, but we hide saying, “Not today,” or “Not me.”

Break open the doors of resistance.  Let the blaze of your Spirit dance within each of us.  And give us courage and faith to claim your call for our lives.  Amen.

Silent Prayer of Confession

Declaration of Forgiveness                     Psalms   103:8

One:  Sisters and brothers, the Lord is merciful and

gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.

Believe this good news:  In Jesus Christ, our stories are

known, our sins are forgiven, our lives are made new.
