Unison Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, you desire that the world might see your light shine through us. Yet we confess we are often too blinded by the glittering temptations of this world. We turn from your way, hurting the very ones we were called to serve, in our action and our inaction. We grow frustrated with each other, seeking to silence anything besides our own desires. We fail to see your righteousness and champion greed and discord in the name of power and popularity. Forgive us. Melt us and mold us into more faithful disciples, seeking your light, reflecting your mercy, and sharing your grace. Amen.

Silent Prayer of Confession

 Assurance of Pardon

Leader:  Friends, who is in a position to condemn?  Only Christ, and Christ alone, prays for us.  Christ reaches out with endless love and mercy.  Friends, believe the good news:  In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and made ready to love and serve.  Alleluia.  Amen

THE LORD’S SUPPER

INVITATION:

Let us give thanks to God, Creator, Christ, and Holy Spirit.

The table is now prepared for us.

We are invited to share in the feast of God’s presence,

celebrating here and now all that is meant by being alive.

The Spirit of God moves in and through all time,

in every age, in every corner of the earth,

calling people to renew their hope and joy.

AT THIS TABLE WE CELEBRATE JESUS,

WHO TOUCHED OUR BROKENESS WITH HIS LIFE;

WHO GATHERS US TOGETHER, INSIDE AND OUT.

WE GIVE OURSELVES TO THAT WHOLENSS,

MOVING FROM HURT TO HAPPINESS

AND FROM DARKESS TO LIGHT

FILLING OUR LIVES WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, AND EACH  OTHER,

AND JOINING WITH ALL CREATED THINGS TO SAY:

“HOLY ARE YOU, O GOD.”

COMMUNION LITANY:

God be with you.

AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.

Lift up your hearts.

WE LIFT THEM UP TO GOD.

WE GIVE YOU THANKS, O GOD, FOR YOU HAVE CREATED ALL THINGS,

AND BY YOUR WILL THEY EXIST.

YOU HAVE DELIVERED YOUR PEOPLE FROM BONDAGE,

AND YOU HAVE GIVEN TO US JESUS CHRIST,

LAMB OF GOD, SAVIOR OF THE WORLD,

WHO HAS WON FOR US THE VICTORY OVER SIN AND ALL EVIL.

HOLY, HOLY, GOD OF LOVE AND MAJESTY, O GOD MOST HIGH.

Glory be to you, O Christ, for you were slain,

and by your blood you ransomed for God

people from every tribe, tongue, people and nation.

You have made them a nation of priests to serve our God,

and they shall reign on earth.

UNISON:

SPIRIT OF GOD, TOUCH OUR LIVES DEEPLY,

AND MAKE US TRULY YOURS;

AND BLESS THESE GIFTS OF THE BREAD AND THE CUP.

O LOVING CHRIST,

BRIGHT MORNING STAR OF THE DARKENED WORD,

COME AND BE OUR GUEST.

NAME US, MARK US, AND CLAIM US AS YOUR OWN.

GLORY BE TO YOU!  AMEN.

SHARING THE BREAD AND THE CUP

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING:

God Almighty, who is and who was,

we give you thanks that you have taken your great power and reign!

We thank you for this feast of love and victory,

which is a foretaste of the day when all shall gather, united as one.

May that day come soon!

Give us courage to serve you in costly obedience,

that your ways of justice and truth may triumph on this earth.  Amen.
